Ipswich 10/07/07 Part One
On the 10th July we took a trip out to Ipswich to do some shopping, and since we had time, I got the camera out and got snapping and filming. Unfortunately this is still the same camera from our last time at Ipswich, so the same sound problems persist :(
Hope you enjoy anyway!

Notes on Driving in the UK

If you are from the States you should know that driving in the UK isn't like driving here.
Yes, they drive on the other side of the road, but that is the easiest part. Really, it is!
There are other things to know before you decide to drive (I put in 671 miles behind the wheel and I was more than ready to get rid of the car when the time came). The speed limit signs are in miles per hour but distances are listed in yards.
Round abouts aren't too hard, if you have someone to read them to you as you stare at the centerline. The roads are very narrow. What would pass for an alley way in Mineapolis is a 50mph two lane road!
There is no shoulder. Just grass, or sharp rocks, or a nasty stone curb.
When the Romans were in England they built straight roads. This did not take with the natives. Any non major road will be very winding and spooky.
However, there are upsides. I only ran into two jerks for all those miles. The lane ettiqute is astounding good. The cars are smaller so the narrower roads are easier to manage and more efficent. We had a Skoda (a VW nameplate) Octavia. It was bigger than I would have liked but we received an 'upgrade'. So it goes.
The country is not set up for highway travel like the US. No billboards (good), no road side reststops (bad) and the raod isn't littered with gas station after gas station (good and bad).
Glad I had the expereince, but the tube is much more fun if you ask me.
